Fuck muggers, you cowardly and worthless, God damned, pieces of shit

I hate the fact that I kind of want to get a conceal-and-carry permit. I never will, but still. Thought’s there.
That is all.
SOMBODY’S Libertarian brother is beginning to make an impression
SOMBODY’S Libertarian brother is beginning to make an impression
P.S.
That sucks, I hope everything works out, that shouldn’t have to happen to anyone.
I echo your sentiment. Fuck them.
I’m glad to hear you’re ok. I must admit that I was slightly amused by the exchange, as read in black and white on a computer monitor. I’m sure it was anything but amusing at the time.
I’m also glad that you basically told him to fuck off by not coughing it up right away, and even more glad that it didn’t make him fly off the handle.
Why won’t you ever get a conceal-and-carry? Philosophical? Practical?
To Jon: My libertarian brother never fails to make some kind of impression. But not in this case. First of all, I said, “I never will (get a permit).” But any influence here has naught to do with the political, it has only to do with the personal. And sometimes the latter should have some affect on the former, but generally it should not. Policy should be informed be rigorous, unbiased research and discussion of the problem at hand. I don’t want my political opinions to be informed purely by anecdotal evidence, even if it’s very direct and personal.
That said, do I wish I had an equally intimidating and (likely) more real weapon to pull out of my jacket in that moment? Of course I do.
To Mike: someday I’ll give you a more accurate version of our exchange.
And as to why not? Certainly it’s a little bit practical. Real hand guns aren’t cheap. Most of my friends would constantly verbally flog me. Most places I go would not allow me to bring it in.
There’s some philosophy as well. The likelihood of me being hurt in a situation like what happened to me is very low. But I would imagine that my chances go up if I introduce a gun to the situation.
I don’t want to get into the security vs. freedom debate here, but Canada and the UK and Europe have fewer gun deaths and less violent crime than we do. Do I want America to become those? No. But we could learn some things. That doesn’t necessarily mean I’m suggesting we outlaw guns entirely. This can continue, but I’m done here.
